The 2nd Annual Spirit of Texas Festival will be one for the record books with the help of H-E-B’s Creamy Creations! Festivalgoers will have the chance to attempt to build and eat the world’s longest ice cream sundae on Saturday, March 24 at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater in College Station.

H-E-B Creamy CreationsParticipation in the Guinness World Record-setting effort is free and preregistration is strongly encouraged.  Participants can sign up in teams of eight or more, join an already-existing team or register as an individual. In addition, children under the age of 12 who are preregistered will receive a free “Sprinkle Kids” t-shirt.

The current Guinness World Record, set in 2016, stands at 3,627 ft. 8.8 inches – but is ready to be broken.  Ice cream lovers of all ages will have the chance to prove that everything is bigger in Texas using 500 gallons of H-E-B Creamy Creations ice cream. H-E-B also is donating 300 gallons of chocolate sauce, 2,000 cans of whipped cream, 25 pounds of sprinkles and 20,000 cherries to the effort. “The Spirit of Texas Festival is all about how huge and diverse our state is,” said Cynthia Caronna, the festival’s executive director. “We are excited to be partnering with H-E-B Creamy Creations in this Texas-sized celebration. They are playing a critical role in bringing the festival to life through one of our main events – attempting to break a world record!”

Teams building the sundae will come from around the Brazos Valley and surrounding region, including teams comprised of Texas A&M University staff. “President and Mrs. Young are very excited to support the University staff’s participation in attempting to set the world record,” said Keith Randall, Interim Director of News and Information Services at Texas A&M. “Texas A&M staff members and their families will be able to join neighbors and friends in this unique community-focused opportunity.”

The Spirit of Texas Festival, which will span March 23-25, celebrates everything the Lone Star State has to offer, all in one place. This event includes something for everyone in the family – the shopper, the foodie, the music lover, the budding performer.

The festival also is giving back through supporting nonprofits whose work affects the lives of youth: the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley; Von’s Vision (founded by Texas A&M football legend Von Miller); K9s4Kids; and Mobility Worldwide.
