A room submerged in complete darkness;
Lightless and uncompromising.
Your optic nerve rendered completely useless
And you have to rely on your other senses to guide you . . .
Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living will host their fifth annual Dining in the Dark event on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the College Station Hilton; the event hopes to raise low vision and blindness awareness in the Brazos Valley, and to promote the full inclusion and participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of community life.
So what is Dining in the Dark? This coming February, the event will once again feature a meal in complete darkness served by individuals who are blind or have low vision.
The evening will be a journey of tastes, sounds, smells, and conversation. Complementary activities will include a series of sensory experiences (excluding sight, of course), a raffle, live music, silent auction, and a cash bar.
Individual, Training Groups, Couples, and Full Table (8 seats) options are available. Tickets are not currently on sale, but interested parties can sign up for our mailing list on the event web site at http://www.DiningInTheDarkBCS.org; they will be some of the first ones to be notified as soon as the ticketing booth opens.
Corporate sponsorships of all levels ($1,000 – 5,000) are also available. Sponsorship forms are on the event website or at the BVCIL office.
Dining in the Dark has sold out in the past, and they expect the same for their fifth anniversary, so don’t hesitate!
