2016 has been a great year for the cuisine scene in Bryan-College Station. Tons of new restaurants have opened. It’s a great time to break out of the routine and try something new. Ease your holiday load by giving one of these new eateries a chance to do the cooking. From what we’ve tasted, you may be VERY glad you did.
The new 13-O BBQ at Northgate is not your typical Texas ‘cue joint. But different is by no means deficient. 13-o doesn’t do your typical 3 meat plates with 2 sides. They focus on sandwiches. Huge, saucy, perfectly flavor-balanced, sandwiches.
Putting a new twist on the potato. Either you can get yours baked or fried the choice is yours letting you pick your cheese, meat, veggies and sauce.
Their goal is to make the BEST Cheesesteaks, Fat Subs, and Loaded Fries. They like to support local farmers, artists, brewers and charities whenever possible. The Philly Cheese Steak is their signature sandwich. They’ve kept it simple just like the steaks you get from Pat’s or Geno’s in Philadelphia.
South College Station residents will no longer have to head to the University Drive or Dominik locations of Blue Baker to enjoy their favorite craft baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and wood fired pizzas. The new Blue Baker location behind the Caprock Center on Mills Park Circle is officially open for business.

Earth Galley Farms, the local farm to table delivery company that sells products from its own farm and many other local farms is opening a new, truly local produce micro-store at their farm.
The south College Station business community has a sweet new addition in Tower Point: Farmhouse Creamery. You won’t have any trouble finding a favorite flavor, or three, Farmhouse makes dozens of flavors and they up to 28 available at a time. While the polished look and feel makes one think they are a chain, the ice cream shop is an Aggieland original.
First Watch is located right where our twin cities meet, in the same center as Cafe Eccell and Hungry Howie’s Pizza.
They started Good Bull BBQ because they love barbecue and we want to change the world! Now you can too! Feed yourself, feed the world, now that’s Good Bull! Stop by their BBQ trailer set up at 400 George Bush Dr. for a great plate of ‘cue. Plus, for every plate you buy, someone in need gets fed a meal. Now that’s Good Bull!

Hungry Howie’s Pizza, originator of the Flavored Crust pizza, recently opened its newest location in Bryan, Texas located at 4501 South Texas Ave., Suite 200, Bryan, Texas 77802.

South College Station folks now have their very own Layne’s Chicken Fingers. Located in the Rattlers Center off William D. Fitch near the Caprock Crossing retail and office development. This marks the third location for the local favorite.
Master Yakiniku Korean BBQ opened in Bryan a few months ago and has quickly created quite a buzz around town, or more accurately, quite a sizzle.
Now open on Northgate at 303 University, Mighty Slice Pizza is serving some of the biggest slices in town for lunch and dinner.
The much anticipated Nothing Bundt Cakes is now open and baking in College Station on Texas Avenue & Harvey Road.
The popular Thai food truck, Pin-Toh Thai, has opened a restaurant at 4345 Wellborn Road, just North of the Texas A&M Campus and Northgate area.
Tried a take out pie from Downtown Bryan’s RX Pizza today and it was great. The crust tasted as if the dough is made from scratch and it reminded me of the two wood fired pizza places in College Station, Napa Flats, West End and the two in Bryan – Amico Nave and Cafe Eccell. This should be a hit in Downtown Bryan which did in fact lack the combination of a well mixed adult beverage and and adult pizza. Will try more for sure.
The Gig ’em Food Mart parking lot at 301 University Drive is now home to another new food truck: Shawarma King. We had been hearing rumors of this truck when it was in town to get permitted at the health department.
Tacos & tortas any way you want ’em. Everything fresh and flavorful. Great service behind the counter. That’s the simple formula The Tacobar is executing to earn rave reviews for their newly opened Taqueria, specializing in authentic, border-style Mex fare.
Twisted Noodle Cafe is now open in the former Kroger Shopping Center at 2418 Texas Ave S., Ste. E, College Station, TX 77840. From making the noodles to the soup base, it’s all done in the restaurant, nothing canned.
Checked out the new Village Foods store to check on a prescription only to discover it has a drive through. Easy to park, clean store that also sells natural foods. Unless someone else opened a new health foods and pharmacy in Bryan today, this is indeed the newest store of it’s type.
Wayback Burgers in College Station is NOW OPEN! Head to Texas & Harvey to try their famous Double Bacon Cheese Burger and GREAT Thick hand-dipped milkshakes!
What’s The Buzz, the local coffee roaster that supplies many of Aggieland’s favorite java joints is opening a coffee house in Bryan’s Physicians Centre Building at 3131 University Dr E, Bryan, TX 77802.
Zaxby’s opened its doors a couple weeks ago. Stop by and be among the first in Bryan-College Station to try their chicken!
