30+ New Brazos Valley Restaurants Open in 2016

2016 has been a great year for the cuisine scene in Bryan-College Station. Tons of new restaurants have opened. It’s a great time to break out of the routine and try something new. Ease your holiday load by giving one of these new eateries a chance to do the cooking. From what we’ve tasted, you may be VERY glad you did.

BBQ 13-0

The new 13-O BBQ at Northgate is not your typical Texas ‘cue joint. But different is by no means deficient. 13-o doesn’t do your typical 3 meat plates with 2 sides. They focus on sandwiches. Huge, saucy, perfectly flavor-balanced, sandwiches.

Baked or Fried

Wings and Fries with fixin’s from Baked or Fried across from the Bryan Wal-Mart on Freedom Blvd.

Putting a new twist on the potato. Either you can get yours baked or fried the choice is yours letting you pick your cheese, meat, veggies and sauce.

Blake’s Steaks

Blake’s Steaks on the TAMU Campus

Their goal is to make the BEST Cheesesteaks, Fat Subs, and Loaded Fries. They like to support local farmers, artists, brewers and charities whenever possible. The Philly Cheese Steak is their signature sandwich. They’ve kept it simple just like the steaks you get from Pat’s or Geno’s in Philadelphia.

Blue Baker – Cap Rock Center

South College Station residents will no longer have to head to the University Drive or Dominik locations of Blue Baker to enjoy their favorite craft baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and wood fired pizzas. The new Blue Baker location behind the Caprock Center on Mills Park Circle is officially open for business.

Bush’s Chicken

The third and most recent Bush’s Chicken location to open in Bryan-College Station on Highway 21 across from Wings N’ More.

Bush’s Chicken has opened 3 locations in the Bryan-College Station area in 2017. Click for an overview of EatBCS.com coverage of all 3 locations.

Earth Galley Farms

Pick up farm fresh produce from Earth Galley Farms off Tabor Rd., or get it delivered.

Earth Galley Farms, the local farm to table delivery company that sells products from its own farm and many other local farms is opening a new, truly local produce micro-store at their farm.

Farmhouse Creamery

The south College Station business community has a sweet new addition in Tower Point: Farmhouse Creamery. You won’t have any trouble finding a favorite flavor, or three, Farmhouse makes dozens of flavors and they up to 28 available at a time. While the polished look and feel makes one think they are a chain, the ice cream shop is an Aggieland original.

First Watch Cafe

First Watch Cafe specializes in breakfast and brunch.

First Watch is located right where our twin cities meet, in the same center as Cafe Eccell and Hungry Howie’s Pizza.

Good Bull BBQ – Food Trailer

They started Good Bull BBQ because they love barbecue and we want to change the world! Now you can too! Feed yourself, feed the world, now that’s Good Bull! Pin Toh Thai

RX Pizza

RX Pizza’s atmosphere is modern while preserving classic historical design features like the pressed tin ceiling.

Tried a take out pie from Downtown Bryan’s RX Pizza today and it was great. The crust tasted as if the dough is made from scratch and it reminded me of the two wood fired pizza places in College Station, Napa Flats, West End and the two in Bryan – Amico Nave and Cafe Eccell. This should be a hit in Downtown Bryan which did in fact lack the combination of a well mixed adult beverage and and adult pizza.  Will try more for sure.

Shawarma King

The Gig ’em Food Mart parking lot at 301 University Drive is now home to another new food truck: Shawarma King. We had been hearing rumors of this truck when it was in town to get permitted at the health department.

Taco Bar

Taco Bar custom makes your tacos to order right before your eyes.

Tacos & tortas any way you want ’em. Everything fresh and flavorful. Great service behind the counter. That’s the simple formula The Tacobar is executing to earn rave reviews for their newly opened Taqueria, specializing in authentic, border-style Mex fare.

Twisted Noodle Cafe

Noodles are handmade in-house at Twisted Noodle Cafe.

Twisted Noodle Cafe is now open in the former Kroger Shopping Center at 2418 Texas Ave S., Ste. E, College Station, TX 77840. From making the noodles to the soup base, it’s all done in the restaurant, nothing canned.
